HISTORY officially made!!

Today, January 20, 2009, had to be the most historical, eventful, joyful and memorable moment in one's life! At approximately 12 noon, President-elect Barack Obama officially began his term serving as the 44th President of the United States of America.

Events began at 8am while many waited for that special moment in time. CNN reported that over 2 million people were present and awaiting our first black president to be sworn in. Before Obama walked out into the public many shouted his name, "Obama! Obama!" and tuned in all across the country to view this historical moment in time.

As Barack Obama placed his left hand on the same Bible President Abraham Lincoln placed his hand on 148 years ago in 1861 and repeated his oath, many applauded and cheered. What an honor! Vice President Biden stood with his right hand raised and his left hand on the Bible, in which, his wife, Jill Biden held for him and recited his oath.

"We did not turn back nor did we falter!" were the words President Obama exclaimed during his first speech as president. With great plans to rebuild this economy and keep it stable, he continued on addressing those who doubt and feel there may be no hope. "We must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin rebuilding the remake of America!" I must say, these words were motivating.

Legendary singer, Aretha Franklin gave tribute by singing, "My Country 'tis of Thee," while Rev. Joseph E. Lowery gave the benediction and poet Elizabeth Alexander recited he words of poetry. As a Clark Atlanta University student who crosses Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard every single day; I have to give praise to that man. May God bless him!

We, as American citizens must support and encourage our president. Many are looking for him to fail and disappoint and discourage us, when all he needs is out help! I believe in our new president and vice president and their office and support them to the fullest!
Preceeding the ceremony was a luncheon and a parade for the president. Lastly, a Neighborhood Inaugural Ball, President's home state ball, Vice president's home state ball, commander-in-chief's ball, midatlantic ball, midwestern ball, youth ball, eastern ball and a southern ball all concluded the night.
CNN Reports:
Obama is the 5th youngest president-elect
Biden is the first VP from Delaware
The Bible Obama swore on hasn't been used since 1861 (when Lincoln became president).
