Late Night Blogg'n

Hello WORLD,
I'm just now finishing my homework, even though I told myself I would be done and in my bed by midnight; well it's almost 1am and I'm awake and bored! So, I decided to think about what's happened in my life in the past 24 hours.

I never had anything like this happen to me. So, since about midnight last night, I guess I can OFFICIALLY be a single woman again. *laughs* I'm assuming this guy wasn't going to break up with me like a real man. *MINDER: I've NEVER been broken up..I've been the "broker"* It's not like one of those, "oh you were crazy and he didn't want to tell you, he just decided he wasn't going to call you anymore" type of situations. Me and my so-called "boyfriend" got into a huge argument, well been petty arguing all month, but this was the LAST straw for me. So, when I didn't fight for him or the relationship, he decided to leave my apartment. DEUCES!

I was tired of the fighting and the arguing; that's not what one's so-called boyfriend/girlfriend is there for; DRAMA! They are supposed to make you happy and smile and fill your life and heart with joy and tender love and care. Well, here I am with stress (again) and findng reasons as to why I am unhappy. Thru with it! I am no longer getting the short end of the stick. I will get what I deserve and that is someone who will treat me right, respect, love, adore, appreciate and cherish me!

Usually, I wouldn't be on this computer, at this time, blogging, I would be in bed lying next to him, but things happen! But, I'm fine! I've been content with the ending of it and everything else that comes along with "break-ups."

So, back to the normal, continuing on with life! I'll be content with being alone for awhile; no title and just "DO ME!"

I have to LOVE myself and my flaws in order for someone else to.

"A broken heart is also an open heart" (I kinda didn't want to use this quote, cause I'm not broken-hearted)

Mood: Content
Listening to: Keyshia Cole's "A Different Me"

A Broken Heart is Also An Open Heart

Well, I do believe the statement, "A Broken Heart is also An Open Heart." It makes me think of how one has been heart-broken and although pain and heartache is running through their head, they are open to try new things and/or somebody else.
I've had my heart-broken TWICE...and the first time, it hurt, bad! And when I got over that heartbreak, I told myself I would never be hurt like that again. And it was all because my first time being in LOVE was the best thing ever, I felt..til I realized the truth. But, when the relationship began to fall apart, I felt like I was falling apart. One's first time being in love and being hurt will leave an impact on one's heart and mind that one will never be able to function the same.
Well, I although the second time I told myself, just like Mary, "I promise myself I will never get hurt again." Well it should've been different. But, it wasn't. I guess I hadn't learned and I let the second guy get away with some of the same things the first guy got away with. But, he learned somethings and tried to get better. But, I continued to think about past situations and incidents and it hurt and I felt I couldn't continue the relationship. Heartbreak two times in a role can DEFINITELY make your mind go crazy!
The second time was dealt with a little better than the first time, but it still hurt. But, after those two times, back-to-back, in a row, I decided to have an open heart. I have tried to love myself and protect my heart to the fullest and eventually let my guard down and give my heart to the one who knows how to take care of it. But, I also have to watch for heartbreak No. 3, just in case it may be on its way. But, I am continuing to have an open heart, even though mines has been broken twice. Because I know someone is out there for me, willing to give me their heart in exchange for mines.

You Complete Me

I really LOVE this video. No other video has touched me like this one. I don't know if it's because she says, "I'll give you all my life and all my love if you promise that you'll be here forever." Or maybe when she says "..And gave me all the love I need. So give me more, don't you ever leave cause' you complete me!" Or maybe just the way she sings the song.

I've followed Keyshia Cole's work since she came out with "I've Changed My Mind," f/ Kanye West (first video). And I've enjoyed all three of her albums. And have always had at least one song that I've adored on each album. The first album was "Love," then the second album was "I Remember," and "Was it Worth it?"

I can't necessarily say that I have gone through some of the same things Keyshia Cole did, as far as relationships, but man do I understand. I just feel like I've gone through the same transformation(s) as she did. Heartbreak, pain to happiness and finally moving on and finding someone new, someone better. I feel it 100%.

So, as I continue to listen and bump her albums in my car, I will continue to be a Keyshia Cole fan!

HISTORY officially made!!

Today, January 20, 2009, had to be the most historical, eventful, joyful and memorable moment in one's life! At approximately 12 noon, President-elect Barack Obama officially began his term serving as the 44th President of the United States of America.

Events began at 8am while many waited for that special moment in time. CNN reported that over 2 million people were present and awaiting our first black president to be sworn in. Before Obama walked out into the public many shouted his name, "Obama! Obama!" and tuned in all across the country to view this historical moment in time.

As Barack Obama placed his left hand on the same Bible President Abraham Lincoln placed his hand on 148 years ago in 1861 and repeated his oath, many applauded and cheered. What an honor! Vice President Biden stood with his right hand raised and his left hand on the Bible, in which, his wife, Jill Biden held for him and recited his oath.

"We did not turn back nor did we falter!" were the words President Obama exclaimed during his first speech as president. With great plans to rebuild this economy and keep it stable, he continued on addressing those who doubt and feel there may be no hope. "We must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin rebuilding the remake of America!" I must say, these words were motivating.

Legendary singer, Aretha Franklin gave tribute by singing, "My Country 'tis of Thee," while Rev. Joseph E. Lowery gave the benediction and poet Elizabeth Alexander recited he words of poetry. As a Clark Atlanta University student who crosses Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard every single day; I have to give praise to that man. May God bless him!

We, as American citizens must support and encourage our president. Many are looking for him to fail and disappoint and discourage us, when all he needs is out help! I believe in our new president and vice president and their office and support them to the fullest!
Preceeding the ceremony was a luncheon and a parade for the president. Lastly, a Neighborhood Inaugural Ball, President's home state ball, Vice president's home state ball, commander-in-chief's ball, midatlantic ball, midwestern ball, youth ball, eastern ball and a southern ball all concluded the night.
CNN Reports:
Obama is the 5th youngest president-elect
Biden is the first VP from Delaware
The Bible Obama swore on hasn't been used since 1861 (when Lincoln became president).

Celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

When I was in elementary school, of course I learned about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I learned about his speech, his mission and his goals. Included in these lessons were his supporters, Rosa Parks (May she Rest in Peace) and his own loving wife, Coretta Scott King. My family and I would go every year to the Martin Luther King Jr. parade held downtown by the boats. It was beautiful; wonderful mornings; sunshine, birds, boats and the community of San Diego, Calif.

Since then, I have then moved out of California to Atlanta, Georgia, where the legend and legacy lives, it has been a major difference. I guess, when one is a native of Georgia, he receives more recognition. Although, he did receive recognition from all over because of his fight and drive to make a better life for all. In Atlanta, they celebrate his legacy in other ways. Of course there was a parade, my university, Clark Atlanta held a handful of events for students to participate in; community service. Many organizations are also participating in community service events. My brother spent his weekend in Tennessee and he mentioned how many people were out and about doing things to celebrate as well.

Now, years later, we have President-elect Barack H. Obama, who is here creating HISTORY similar to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He's here for CHANGE, which is what this country needs, but while also serving as the 44th president and the 1st African-American president, he's already achieved his goal. Now, he's off to aspire towards nationwide goals.

With the inauguration less that 24 hours away, I am excited to officially say "my president is black!" I do not doubt President Obama will not succeed, I think he's the best man and goal-oriented candidate for this position. But, mark my words, "HE WILL PROVE IT!!"

HISTORY has been made and will continue to be made!

Great News

So, as I attended a training yesterday which provided much information about my university, Clark Atlanta, the coordinator, Dr. Cynthia Clem informed attendees about course credits and classifications.

As stated on Clark Atlanta University's Undergraduate Catalog, "the status of a Clark Atlanta student is determined by the number of credit hours earned as follows"

Freshman: from 0-27 semester hours
Sophomore: from 28-57 semester hours
Junior: from 58-87 semester hours
Senior: 88 or more semester hours

So, technically I AM A SENIOR!!!!!

Two semesters to go and I will not taking courses my spring semester of my Senior year.
